My bullet journal migration system broke down after 2 years of use.
I had this whole color coded method for moving tasks between my monthly and weekly spreads. Worked fine for about 2 years until last month when I forgot to transfer a dentist appointment from June into my weekly view. Missed the cleaning and got charged $50 for the no show. That got me thinking about how complicated I made things. I grabbed a single black pen and started over with just a simple list in my notebook. No stencils, no washi tape, just dates and tasks. Its been three weeks now and I actually keep up with it better than my fancy system. Has anyone else had their setup fall apart after a long stretch and had to start fresh?

My buddy Jake had this whole three ring binder system with tabs for every category of his life. Worked perfect for about 18 months until he lost the binder on a flight to Chicago and never saw it again. He tried rebuilding it twice but said it felt like trying to remember a dream, you know? Now he just uses a spiral notebook and a single blue pen, swears its the best thing he ever did.

I used to think a person just had to commit to a system and stick with it no matter what. But your buddy Jake's story really changed my mind. There's something to be said for a setup you can lose or replace without having your whole life fall apart. A spiral notebook and one pen might not look impressive, but nobody's going to cry over a three dollar loss.
