Unpopular opinion: my $45 dot grid journal was a total waste and I'm back to a $1 notebook

Bought the fancy one at a shop in Portland 8 months ago thinking the thick paper would fix my messy spreads, but I just felt bad making ugly pages in it. Anyone else journal better in a cheap notebook they don't respect?
