Vent: My monthly calendar setup took me three hours last night

I wanted to make a new monthly spread with a small habit tracker in the corner. I messed up the spacing for the tracker grid like five times trying to fit 31 days. I kept having to erase pencil lines and redraw the whole box. It should have taken maybe 30 minutes, but I was up until 11pm fixing it. I finally got it right by using a ruler and marking dots first before drawing the lines. Has anyone else had a simple layout turn into a huge time sink? What's your fix for keeping grids even?

Seriously, three hours on a calendar box? I get wanting it to look nice, but at some point you just have to draw the lines and live with it. It's a habit tracker, not a museum piece. Next time, just use a pre-printed sticker or trace something. You'll save your sanity and get to bed before midnight.
