Fixed my dryer after ripping the belt on attempt #3
Last Sunday I tried swapping the belt on my old Kenmore dryer. Got it threaded wrong and it snapped right off when I hit start. Took a break, watched a 6 minute video from some guy in Ohio, and saw I had the tension pulley backwards. Second belt went on perfect, dryer runs quieter than it has in 5 years. Anyone else find that taking a breather halfway through a fix saves more time than rushing?

Had a buddy try to rush through swapping a water heater element and ended up flooding his garage. Came back the next day after watching a proper video and had it done in 20 minutes flat.

Laughed way too hard at this @willow672 because that's totally something I would do... I once tried to drain a hot water tank without turning off the power first and ended up with steam shooting everywhere like a geyser. Finally learned my lesson after the third time of having to call a plumber to fix my mess. Now I just watch two or three videos before touching anything even if I think I know what I'm doing. Saves a lot of towels and embarrassment...
