My neighbor's torque wrench advice saved my alternator swap
My neighbor Jerry told me to use a torque wrench on the alternator bracket bolts, not just crank them tight by feel. I ignored him and stripped the threads on the lower mount after about 20 minutes of wrestling. Had to drill out the bolt and use a helicoil kit from AutoZone for $14 in Dayton. Has anyone else trusted hand tightness and paid the price, or am I the only stubborn one?
