That $40 drain snake was worth it, but only because I ignored the box of baking soda first
Spent all afternoon in August fighting a clogged kitchen sink in my rental, dumped two boxes of baking soda and vinegar down there like the internet said, then finally bought a 25 foot manual snake at Home Depot for $40 and it cleared in 10 minutes, so has anyone else wasted half a day on the 'natural' fixes before giving up and using the right tool?

My buddy had the same thing happen with his bathroom sink last winter. He poured boiling water, then baking soda, then vinegar, then more boiling water, probably spent 3 hours on youtube tutorials trying every trick. His wife finally made him call a plumber who charged $150 just to pull out a hair clump the size of a small animal. The snake wouldve cost him 30 bucks and 5 minutes but nah, he wanted to be a DIY scientist about it.
