Had to choose between a bone saw and a hacksaw for a 200 pound pig, picked wrong at first

Last Saturday I had a big Berkshire hog come in, about 200 pounds dressed. My band saw was down for repairs, so I had to pick between my old bone saw and a hacksaw I keep for trim work. I figured the hacksaw would be faster, since the blade was newer. Took me 45 minutes to split the spine, and my wrist still aches two days later. The bone saw would have done it in 10. Has anyone else tried to get by with the wrong tool on a big carcass and regretted it?

My buddy Jake tried to break down a 180 pound deer with a little drywall saw once. He was bragging about how sharp it was, then spent two hours hacking through the pelvis like a caveman. Ended up snapping the blade clean in half and had to finish with a hatchet. His forearm was shaking so bad he could barely hold a beer after, and we still give him crap about it every hunting season.
