The $300 tenderizer attachment that nearly ruined my shop in Denver
Bought one of those fancy meat tenderizer attachments for my mixer last spring, thought it would speed up cube steaks. First run through, it ripped a whole chuck roast to shreds and jammed the gears so bad I had to pay $200 for a repair guy. My old hand crank tenderizer does the same job in half the time and never breaks down. Am I the only one who's been burned by expensive gadgets when the basic tool just works better?

Oh man, I feel your pain. I actually read a similar story on a cooking forum last month, a guy in Texas swore his expensive attachment stripped the motor right out of his stand mixer. My buddy swears by his grandma's old metal tenderizer too, says the new stuff is just thinner metal and cheap gears dressed up with a fancy price tag. Don't beat yourself up, the repair cost stings but at least you know your hand crank is bulletproof.
