Found a 12-year-old crimp job that still had proper compression

Pulled a drop at a house off Route 9 in Clifton today and the old connector on the ground block caught my eye. I clipped it off to re-terminate and saw the compression ring was still perfect, no gaps, no corrosion. Too many guys just hand-tighten or half-crimp these fittings and then wonder why the signal dies after a storm. That install was probably from 2013 and it outlasted the modem they had in there, how many of you actually check the old fittings before you swap the drop?

See, I'm gonna be the one who pushes back a little here. A clean compression ring from 2013 is nice and all, but that's ONE fitting that happened to be torqued right. I've pulled way more drops where the ground block was the weak link even with a good crimp, because the real issue was water getting in at the house side or a loose center conductor. Checking the old fitting takes ten seconds but I'd rather spend that ten seconds testing the actual signal levels and looking at the whole line, because a pretty connector doesn't save you from a bad splitter or a chewed up cable in the attic.
