Just realized the compass in my phone saved me 20 feet of cable on a tricky wall fish
Had a job in a 1920s house in Decatur last Friday where the customer wanted a jack in the far corner of the living room, and my tape measure kept hitting the fire block inside the wall. I pulled up the compass app on my phone, figured out which way the wall ran north to south, then went outside and picked the spot on the other side of the house that lined up with it. Drilled there and the hole came out 6 inches from where I wanted it up top, way better than the 3 holes I punched guessing last time. Has anyone else messed with the compass trick or do you just keep poking holes until you get lucky?
