Managed to get all our scrap wire sorted for recycling
I've been nagging my crew about keeping scrap wire separate for ages, lol. Finally, this week we set up bins in the van for copper, aluminum, and plastic. Took some time to train everyone, but today we filled up the first bin and took it to the scrap yard. Got a bit of cash back, which we're putting towards pizza next Friday. More importantly, it's keeping tons of metal out of the trash. Feels good to know we're not just tossing everything after a job. Small steps, right? Maybe we can even look at reusable cable ties next.

What was the hardest part about getting the crew on board? How much did you end up getting for that first bin?

I always figured getting people to TRUST the plan would be the big fight. Turns out the real headache was syncing up everyone's crazy schedules for that first pickup. We cleared maybe twenty bucks after gas, which felt HUGE at the time because it proved we could actually do it.

Convincing the crew was the easiest step in the whole process. Everyone already wanted in on the idea before I even finished explaining it. That first bin only brought in pocket change, less than the cost of the coffee we drank while planning.
