Pushed back on the 'always drill through the stud' rule at a 1970s house in Tulsa
Last Tuesday I was running a coax drop in a 1972 ranch house off Sheridan in Tulsa and hit a stud that was basically cardboard, so instead of drilling I fished the line through the attic and came down the interior wall. My lead told me I was wasting time and that code says drill, but the homeowner had just paid $4,200 to patch and paint that hallway and I wasn't about to punch 6 more holes in it. Has anyone else pushed back on a lead over a call like this, and did it blow up on you or did they cool off?
