Spent 45 minutes on a simple wall fish that should have taken 10

I was running a new drop in a house in Austin last week and hit a fire block that wasn't on the plans. Thought I could just drill through from the attic but ended up having to cut a hole and use a flex bit. 45 minutes for what I usually knock out in 10. Has anyone else run into random fire blocks that mess up your whole rhythm?

Had a buddy lose half his camping gear that way last summer. Swore it would never happen to him.
