Swapped an old DirecTV dish for a new install and lost half a day to a stripped mast bolt
Last Tuesday I got sent to a house in Mesa to move a dish from the roof to the side wall, and a stripped bolt on the old mast turned a 45 minute job into a 5 hour mess. I did not have a bolt extractor in the van, so I tried vise grips, then a hacksaw, then drove to the supply house on Country Club for a $9 kit. The customer kept coming outside to ask if her internet was still going to work, which did not help my mood. By the time I got the mast loose, the lag bolts in the wall were rusted too, so I had to drill new holes and patch the old ones. I finished at 4:30 instead of noon, and dispatch still counted it as one job on my board. What do you all keep in the van for rusty or stripped mast hardware so this does not happen again?
