Two years of wrong coax terminations, a $40 tool fixed it

I ran jobs in Austin for two years thinking my compression fittings were fine, turns out I was over-stripping the cable every single time. A senior guy on a big commercial build in Round Rock saw me do one and asked why my dielectric was sticking out past the connector, I had no idea that caused signal bleed. Picked up a dedicated prep tool from a supply house for 40 bucks and my drop failures dropped from like 1 in 8 to maybe 1 in 30. Anyone else find out their basic technique was off after someone just watched them work?

Hell yeah, it's always the little stuff that bites you. Read a similar story on a low voltage forum about a guy who'd been doing BNC ends wrong for years, same deal, nobody caught it till a vendor pulled him aside.
