Warning: the old timer who told me to leave 8 inches of slack behind every wall plate saved my butt twice
I was pulling cable in a house in Mesa and this guy who had been doing installs for like 20 years watched me cut my coax tight to the box. He said leave yourself a loop, at least 8 inches, because you will need it someday. I thought he was just being slow and wasting cable, but two months later a customer wanted to move their outlet 3 feet down the same wall and I had just enough slack to do it without running a whole new line. Same week I had a bad connector end that I could just snip and redo instead of repulling. How much slack do you all leave, or am I the only one still learning this the hard way?
