Am I the only one who thinks real camera repair died with the rise of digital?
I used to love the puzzle of a mechanical shutter, figuring out each spring and gear. These days, half the repairs are just swapping a sensor that needs special tools to check. Do you still get to do hands on fixes, or is it all board swaps now?

Calibrating a Hasselblad X1D's leaf shutter changed my mind about digital repairs. Ngl, it felt just as hands-on as any vintage camera I've fixed.

Hot take: digital guts, same old hands.
Totally get what you mean. You open up one of those modern mirrorless cameras and it's just a sea of tiny screws and ribbon cables. But getting that shutter timing right on a digital body is still all about feel and patience. You're still sweating over a half-turn of a screw, just like with an old mechanical leaf shutter. The end goal is different, yeah, but the focus it takes is the same. Feels good to know some skills still cross over, right?

Ever tackled a cracked screen? Peeling those tiny layers felt just as nerve-wracking as my first film advance fix lol.
