inThe time I got canceled at my own book club for sharing a hot take on a popular memoir
Good for you, it takes a lot of guts to smooth things over like that and sometimes a private chat is all it takes.

inUnpopular opinion: That $700 Glasurit paint job I did on a Honda saved me a headache
Honestly never even occurred to me either until I really sat with it. So does that mean you think most people are just going along with what everyone else says without actually thinking it through? Like are we all just recycling the same opinions because it's easier than figuring out our own take on stuff?

inOld timer told me to wet cure for 10 days straight
10 days is overkill. I live in Texas and never wet cure past 3 days. 5 days is plenty for Austin weather. The cracking you're seeing isn't from curing, it's from your saw cuts being too late or too shallow. That's the real problem. Concrete sets fast in the heat, you gotta cut within 4-6 hours no matter what. Blaming the cure is a convenient excuse but the math don't add up. Next time cut deeper and chop sooner.

inChat with a scrappy guy at Pick-n-Pull changed how I shop now
Seen this play out in so many areas of life, not just car parts. People will spend hours hunting for a deal on a used couch, then end up with one that has a weird smell or a busted spring. Meanwhile the new one from a normal store would have just worked and been delivered. There's this whole idea that saving money always means you're being smart, but sometimes the cheapest path costs you more in hassle and frustration down the road. Time and peace of mind are a real currency too, your mileage just varies on what you're willing to trade for them.

inFell for that fancy auto-terminating tool, lost $80 on a gimmick
Try adjusting the depth setting first, it's usually the issue not the tool itself.
