Chatted with a retired Leica tech at a swap meet in Portland
He said he never used canned air on a shutter, only a soft brush, because the propellant can leave a film. Anyone else avoid air cans for specific jobs?

Oh totally! That's such a good point. I learned the hard way cleaning an old lens, left a weird haze on the inside element that was a pain to get off. Now I just use a rocket blower for dust and a brush for anything sticky. The canned air stuff can really gunk things up more than it helps.

Ugh, the worst. Did that with a vintage 50mm. Used a microfiber cloth on what looked like a smudge. Turned out to be old coating damage. Made it way more obvious. Now I just leave weird marks alone if the blower doesn't fix it. Not worth making it worse.
