I finally called out a contractor at the Lowe's on Montgomery for giving awful advice

I get what you're saying about training, but the garden center guy at my store actually knows his stuff. He saved my tomatoes last year.

Serious question, why do so many people think the Denver airport murals are about aliens?

Man, people will see a weird looking horse and jump straight to "it's a portal to hell" lmao. They had to put a plaque next to that blue mustang statue because so many folks thought it was evil. The murals are just some 90s art about saving trees and not fighting wars, but show someone a weird lizard and suddenly it's proof of a secret bunker. I guess a boring truth is way less fun than a crazy story.

Bought a $40 'story idea generator' app and it gave me the same three prompts every time

Remember when those fancy "smart" pens that record your voice and turn it into text were a big deal? I saved up and bought one, convinced it would capture my genius thoughts on the go. It mostly just filled pages with "um" and the sound of coffee shop noise, then died after two months. Total waste.

I finally stopped using regular spackle on my old plaster walls

My buddy had the same problem in his old bungalow. He kept filling a long ceiling crack with that lightweight spackle and it would split open every time the heat kicked on. Finally grabbed some USG setting compound, the kind you mix yourself, and troweled that in. That was like two years ago and you can't even find the seam now, it's held up perfectly.

Overheard two people in the break room talking about how they just zone out for hours

Three hours for two things? That's the part that got me. I can see maybe an hour slipping away, but a whole morning basically gone while you just stare at a screen. That's not quiet thinking time, that's your brain shutting down from boredom. I'd feel sick with guilt if I looked up and realized I'd burned half my workday like that. The system being down is one thing, but actively choosing to just zone into a spreadsheet coma sounds like a cry for help.
