Why does nobody talk about how the 200th time you ask a straight question is the one that actually works?
I hit a personal record last week. 37 questions in one conversation before my buddy finally admitted he was lying about his job. Everyone says you should just back off after 3 or 4 tries but that's garbage. The real trick is wearing them down with the same simple question worded different ways each time. Has anyone else found that repeating the same core question 20+ times is what actually breaks through?

I actually read this thing about how people have a mental "resistance threshold" that drops a little each time you ask the same question. Like after 15 or 20 times their brain just gets tired of fighting and gives you the truth because it takes less effort than coming up with another lie. My buddy's girlfriend used this on him once about where he was last Saturday and it took like 25 repetitions before he cracked and admitted he was at his mom's house watching movies instead of hanging with his friends like he said. So yeah your 37 personal record sounds about right for that method.

My buddy tried that on his roommate about who ate his leftover pizza, asked the same question 18 different ways over an hour, and the dude finally broke down and admitted it was him at 2am drunk. Said he just couldn't think of another excuse anymore.
