Hit 300 anime shows watched and it got me thinking about completionism vs dropping
I just crossed 300 completed shows on my MAL last night. But 80 of those are things I pushed through just to hit a number, like that 90 episode mecha series I hated from episode 3. Now I'm wondering if I wasted time that could've gone into rewatching favorites or trying genres I normally skip. Does anyone else keep going just to boost their count, or do you drop stuff fast without guilt?
Honestly, this post kinda changed my stance on it. Used to be all about finishing everything no matter what, felt like I was cheating if I dropped something. Now I look back at all those 6/10 shows I slogged through and wish I had just bailed after episode 2. The time could've gone into stuff I actually love, like rewatching Bebop again or finally checking out some slice of life shows. Dropping something fast feels way better than forcing yourself to hate a show every week just for a number. It's a lot more freeing to just move on when it's not clicking.
