Guy at the parts counter told me to stop buying OEM flex cables, he was dead wrong
Last month I had a Canon Rebel T7 on the bench with a busted LCD ribbon and the guy at the parts counter in Toledo told me to skip OEM and grab a $9 aftermarket cable off the usual auction site, said he uses them in his own shop all the time. First one came in dead on arrival, second one tore at the fold during install, and the third finally worked but the screen flickered when the body flexed. I ate $27 and two evenings on it before ordering the real part for $34, which dropped in clean on the first try. Lesson learned about free advice at the counter. What aftermarket parts have burned you guys, and is there any brand you actually trust for ribbons?
