Had a chat with an old Pentax shooter that made me rethink my whole cleaning process
He told me he never uses any liquid on mirror boxes, just a dry blower and a soft brush, after 40 years. I've been swabbing mine with methanol for a decade and now I'm wondering if I'm doing more harm than good. Has anyone else gone back to dry-only methods and noticed less dust or debris over time?

Never thought of it that way, isn't methanol just asking for trouble down the line?

Yeah that's a fair point. Methanol burns clean but if you get any contamination in the system it can mess with the injectors or fuel lines pretty bad. A buddy of mine ran it in his track car for a season and had to replace a pump because the stuff ate through the seals. Maybe it's just me but I'd rather stick with something safer for daily use even if it costs a bit more in the long run. idk, just feels like extra risk for not much gain.
