Old timer at a camera swap meet in Portland fixed a stuck shutter on my Nikon F2 with just a toothpick and lighter fluid
Has anyone else had a random old timer drop some wild repair trick on you that actually worked better than the official way?

Isn't it funny how the "wrong" fix often works better than the manual says because it's based on feel instead of a spec sheet? It's like how grandpas can tune a carburetor with a screwdriver and a match, while a mechanic with a computer can't figure it out.

Lighter fluid on a precision camera, what could go wrong? I guess the F2 is tough enough to survive a backyard chemistry experiment. Must be the same guy who fixes his lawnmower with a paperclip and some spit.
