Tried a heat gun on my old Hasselblad's sticky shutter blades... wow

Had a 500 C/M with shutter blades that were gummed up and slow. I read somewhere that a quick pass with a heat gun at 150 degrees might loosen the old lubricant... figured what the heck, it was already broken. Swear to god, 20 seconds of gentle heat and the blades snapped back to life. I wouldn't do this on anything with plastic parts obviously, but for older mechanical shutters it's worth trying before a full CLA. Anyone here ever use heat as a shortcut or am I asking for trouble long term?

150 degrees is pretty low but I'd worry about the lubricant drying out again in a few months.

I mean... yeah that's the thing with these low temp oils isn't it. I tried some fancy "eco" oil on my bike chain once and it was bone dry after like three months. Ended up just buying a big bottle of the regular stuff and now I just drip some on whenever I remember. Seemed more reliable in the long run.
