That $40 tarp with grommets that tore on day one at Lake Tahoe
Set it up for a three night stay, and by morning the corner ripped clean off in a light breeze, so has anyone else stopped trusting cheap grommets and just switched to tying rope around tent stakes instead?

Grommets are honestly a scam at that price point. Mine did the exact same thing at a campsite in Oregon, corner peeled off like it was made of wet paper. I ended up tying the rope around a rock and jamming it under the stake, worked way better than the stupid metal ring ever did.
