My brother-in-law told me he was 'basically canceled' at his job in Boise and it wasn't what I expected
He got called out in a team Slack for a joke he made about a coworker's accent, and HR pulled him into a 45 minute meeting the next Tuesday. I went in ready to roll my eyes because most 'canceled' stories I see online are just someone mad they got pushback. But he showed me the messages and honestly the joke was pretty rough, and the coworker had already asked him twice to stop. What got me was he kept saying he was 'canceled' when really it was just one awkward meeting and a hit to his rep with like 6 people. Has anyone else seen cases where 'canceled' just means 'someone finally told me to knock it off'?
