Vent: I got 6,000 followers and that is when the pile on started

I run a small woodworking page and hit 6,000 followers back in March, which is nothing to most people but it felt like a lot to me. Then I posted a coffee table I built with reclaimed oak, and a big account with 200k followers stitched it and called me a hack, and by that night I had 400 comments telling me to quit. Do we ever stop and ask who actually gains from these pile ons, or do we just enjoy the show too much to care?
