Junkyard coilovers vs used name brand springs, the difference blew my mind

I spent like 6 months running some $150 coilovers from a no name brand off eBay on my Civic. Rode like a skateboard on gravel. Finally saved up and found a set of used Eibach springs at a pick n pull for $40, paired them with some cheap KYB shocks. Night and day difference for less money total. The car actually handles bumps now instead of trying to shake my fillings loose. Has anyone else found that sticking with simple proven parts beats copying the trendy build setups?
