My junkyard alternator gave up after 3 months
Picked a used alternator from Pull-A-Part in Phoenix for $40. Worked fine until last Tuesday when the battery light came on during my commute. Voltage dropped to 11.5 and the car almost died at a stoplight. Had to swap it in a gas station parking lot with a cheap multimeter. Anyone else had bad luck with yard parts lasting more than a season?

Grabbed a $35 alternator from a Phoenix yard last year and it barely made it through the summer before frying itself on the 10 freeway. I’ve learned the hard way that desert heat loves killing used parts.
