Pulled a junkyard transmission for $80 last Saturday

Found a 2005 Honda Civic at Pull-A-Part in Phoenix. Transmission came out clean in 2 hours with just hand tools. Got it home and swapped it into my 04 Civic in one day. Shifts smoother than the old one that had 200k miles. Anyone else gamble on junkyard parts and win?

Honestly that's a solid find for $80. I've pulled a few transmissions from those 7th gen Civics and they're usually pretty reliable even with higher miles.

And that's the thing about older Hondas, you can almost always count on parts being easy to find and cheap to swap in. It's like once a car model sells enough units, the whole aftermarket just builds around it and keeps everything affordable for years. Kinda makes you realize how much the little things in life just work out when something is built right from the start.
