Got my loan down to $212 a month after 14 months of fighting
Last Tuesday I was sitting in my Corolla in the Wells Fargo parking lot in Boise staring at my statement and my payment was still $389 a month on a 2018 with 71k miles. I had called them 3 times before and every person just said I had to keep paying the same amount, so this time I asked for a payoff quote and a supervisor in one call. The supervisor put me on hold for 11 minutes and came back with a refi offer at 6.9% instead of my old 13.2%, which dropped me to $212. My credit union had turned me down 6 months ago so I had kind of given up on this whole thing. I signed the papers Thursday and the first lower payment hits on the 15th. Has anyone gotten a rate cut just by asking for the payoff number, or did I just get lucky with who picked up the phone?
