Got talked into Gap insurance on a 2019 Civic, that $1,100 is gone forever
Bought my Civic in Cincinnati back in March 2023 and the finance guy kept pushing Gap coverage. Said my loan was upside down and I needed it, so I tacked $1,100 onto the loan. Paid on it for 14 months before I got curious and called my own insurance company. Turns out my policy already covers the gap between value and what I owe. The dealer coverage only gave back $60 when I canceled, and the rest just vanished into the loan. Has anyone actually gotten their money back on dealer Gap, or did I just light a grand on fire for nothing?
