That $250 dealer add-on package I paid for without reading the fine print
Bought a used SUV back in March and the finance guy slid a protection package into the paperwork. I was too busy thinking about the monthly number to notice the extra $250 tacked on. Turns out it was just some spray-on fabric protector and a windshield treatment that wore off in a month. I could have bought the same stuff at an auto parts store for like $30. Anyone else get hit with those add-ons they never actually use? How do you spot them before signing?
I saw a thing on a car forum where a guy listed all the junk they push in that little room. Fabric spray, VIN etching, paint sealant, the whole scam list. They count on you being tired and focused on the monthly payment so you just nod and sign. Best trick I read was to ask for the itemized out the door price before you ever sit down with the finance guy. If something shows up that wasn't in the ad or the sticker, you tell them to take it off or you walk. Works every time from what people said.
