I paid $400 for a professional LinkedIn profile rewrite and it was a total waste

I was trying to switch from retail management to an office coordinator role and thought a polished profile would help. The writer charged me $400 and promised a 'strategic overhaul' that would attract recruiters. What I got back was just a bunch of fancy words that didn't sound like me at all. It didn't mention any of my real skills like scheduling or vendor communication, just vague stuff about 'synergy' and 'paradigms'. I ended up rewriting it myself in plain language and started getting actual interviews. Has anyone else had a bad experience with a career service that just didn't get your actual job?

What's the point of paying for words nobody uses in real jobs?

My friend paid a resume writer who just copied her old job duties word for word.
