My old manager's 30 day rule about quitting actually worked for me

Back in 2021 my manager at a call center in Tulsa told me 'if you feel like quitting, wait 30 days and then decide.' I thought it was just corporate talk to keep me around. But last spring I was ready to walk out after a rough week, so I tried it. I wrote down what I hated and checked it daily. Turns out most of it was one bad shift, not the job. I stayed another 6 months and found good projects. Has anyone else tried some version of a waiting period before making a big career call?
