TIL that most remote job advice is useless for someone like me
Everyone says to just apply online and network on LinkedIn. But I live in a small town in Montana and spent 8 months sending out 200 applications with zero callbacks. I finally got a remote gig by calling a small company direct and asking about a problem on their website. Does anyone else think the standard advice misses the mark for people outside big cities?

Call that company direct - what made you pick them in particular? Were you already familiar with their product or did you just stumble on their site and spot something?
