Appreciation post: the Wednesday my whole switch from warehouse lead to HVAC helper finally clicked
I left a $19 an hour warehouse lead job in Fort Worth to start as a helper at $15, and for 7 weeks I felt like the dumbest guy on every truck. Then on a Wednesday install in Arlington, the lead handed me the gauges and said "you call it, I'll just watch," and I got the charge right on the first try with no hints. He bought me lunch after and told the shop owner I was ready to ride solo on basic calls. For anyone who jumped into the trades later in life, how long did it take before your hands caught up to your head?
