Realized I was job hopping all wrong after a chat with a recruiter

I spent 18 months bouncing between 3 tech jobs thinking I was building skills, but a recruiter told me last week that each one under 6 months just looks like a red flag on my resume. She said hiring managers see that as me quitting when things got hard, not career growth. Anyone else get caught in the short-stint trap and figure out how to spin it right?

My buddy listed his short jobs as contract work and it totally fixed his resume.

Calling it contract work when it wasn't is still lying, and @fox.skyler's defense of it just makes the excuse sound fancy.

That contract wording trick works because it changes the story without lying. Just make sure you can back it up if a hiring manager asks who you were contracting for.
