Shoutout to the $9.50 raise that finally beat my old salary after 14 months of night classes
I left warehouse work in Columbus to do HVAC and spent 14 months going to class at night and working weekends. Last Friday my check came out to $9.50 an hour more than what I made at the warehouse, which sounds small until you live on it. For people who switched trades, how long did it take before the money actually beat your old job?
My uncle drove a truck for 11 years before he got into welding and it took him almost 2 years before his take home actually passed what he used to make. He kept a sticky note on the dash with the old number on it, weird little thing but he said it kept him going.
