Hit 1000 stairs built in my career and nobody warned me about the knee thing
I was counting up my projects the other night and realized I've built exactly 1007 stair treads over the last 12 years. That's a lot of going up and down while carrying a framing square. What got me was how my left knee started barking at me right around number 850, not before. I never thought a simple stairs job would sneak up on my body like that. Has anyone else hit a weird number that made them realize they're getting older on the job?

Hit 850 and felt it in my hip on the right side, not the knee. Makes me wonder if the body just picks a random joint to sacrifice once you cross a certain threshold of repetitive motion. 1007 treads is wild though, I bet your stringer cuts are damn near perfect by now. The weird part for me was realizing I could still do the math in my head faster than most guys with a calculator, but my body stopped cooperating around the same time.

The random joint sacrifice theory hits close to home, @the_charlie - my left shoulder started complaining around stair 700 for no good reason. I guess the body finally decides it's had enough before the brain does.
