I called biscuit joints overrated until a guy named Ray showed me his on a Saturday in Toledo
I always thought biscuit joiners were a crutch for guys who couldn't cut a clean mortise and tenon. Then I spent a Saturday morning at Ray's shop off Sylvania Ave watching him glue up a 6 foot white oak bench with four biscuits and it was dead flat, no twist at all. My hand cut joints have failed on wider panels more than once and honestly his went together in 20 minutes. Anyone here still cutting mortises for big panel glue ups, or did you switch?
