Pro tip: I spent 3 hours trying to hang a cabinet on a wall that had a 5/8 inch hump in the middle
Spent Saturday trying to hang a 30 inch upper cabinet in my buddy's garage in Tacoma and it wobbled no matter what I did. I shimmed the bottom, then the top, then both, and it still rocked like a rocking chair. Turned out the stud wall had a 5/8 inch hump right in the middle from old drywall mud, so the cabinet was basically sitting on a hill. I finally grabbed a hand plane, knocked the hump down, and it went flush in about 10 minutes. Has anyone else run into a bowed wall like that, and do you just shim it or do you cut it flat every time?
