Used to swear by my old hand saw for trim until I tried a Japanese pull saw on a job in Portland last year.

The pull saw gave me cleaner cuts with less effort, and now I keep one in my truck for any finish work, but does anyone have a good trick for keeping the blade from getting gummed up with pine pitch?

It's funny how the best tools often need the gentlest touch to really work right.

Oh man, that's actually a pull saw's strength. The thin blade doesn't really clog with pitch like a push saw can. You might be pressing too hard. Let the teeth do the work, just a light grip. A quick wipe with mineral spirits on a rag after use keeps it totally clean for me.
