Appreciation post: My cheap staple gun died on a 3-room job in Dayton and I got it working with a piece of a soda can
My $40 staple gun quit on me mid-job about 2 weeks back, right in the middle of a 3-room stretch in Dayton. I was on the last bedroom, maybe 20 rows from done, and the thing just stopped firing. Turns out the spring return arm snapped clean off. I had a 5-gallon bucket of scraps and a crushed Coke can in the truck, so I cut a thin strip of aluminum, bent it into a little hook, and wedged it where the spring used to sit. Fired about 200 more staples with it just fine and finished the room before lunch. It only cost me 15 minutes and saved me a trip to the supply house across town. Already ordered a replacement spring, but that can trick is staying in my bag. What random junk have you guys used to keep a job moving when a tool gave up on you?
