My uncle in Phoenix swore by using a 12-inch seam roller for everything, but it cost me a job.

He said a bigger roller meant less work and a better bond, so I used it on a tight staircase job in a Scottsdale condo. The client complained about visible seam marks on the short nap berber, and the builder called in someone else to fix it. Has anyone else had a tool recommendation backfire on a specific carpet type?

Short nap berber" is the key detail there. That stuff shows every little thing. A big roller on a low, tight pile like that is just asking for trouble.

So what's the best way to clean it then?
