Overheard a homeowner in Boise say they'd never pay for a power stretcher again

I was grabbing coffee and heard a guy telling his friend his new carpet install was done with just a knee kicker, and he thought it was just as good for half the cost. That got me thinking about how we explain our tools and methods to clients. How do you guys handle that talk when a customer questions the need for a power stretcher on a bigger room?

Oh man, that's a rough one to hear. So when a client pushes back on the power stretcher, do you just show them pictures of a failed install with ripples and buckles a year later? I've found that explaining it as a tool for long-term hold, not just for getting it tight today, is the only thing that gets through.

But seriously, is a power stretcher really that big of a deal for every single job? I've seen plenty of installs done with a knee kicker that held up just fine. Maybe @oscarscott is onto something wondering why people push back, because the extra cost and time doesn't always feel worth it to a customer.

Wait, they actually push back on using a power stretcher?
