That time a house in Akron had three different carpet types in one room

Got a call for a big job, thought it was a normal install. Showed up and the living room had a patch of old shag, some indoor-outdoor stuff, and a square of berber all stapled down. The homeowner wanted it all gone and one new piece put in. Took me and my helper a full day just to pull up the old layers and fix the floor. Has anyone else walked into a mess like that and still made the deadline?

Read about a place where they glued vinyl tiles right over hardwood. Some people just don't think ahead.

Honestly, my buddy had a job like that last year. He pulled up this nasty kitchen floor and found four layers of linoleum, each one worse than the last. The bottom layer was basically glued on with tar paper. Took them two extra days just to scrape it clean, and the whole place smelled like a tire fire. They still finished, but the boss was not happy about eating the cost for all that extra labor.
