Was sure expensive seam tape was a scam, now I'm a believer

For like 2 years I only used the cheap seam tape from Home Depot because I thought the expensive stuff was just branding. Then I did a job for a client in Austin who supplied their own HF tape, and I figured why not try it. The seams laid down so flat and didn't peel even after I stretched the carpet tight. Now I'm wondering if I've been costing myself time with callbacks. Anyone else make the switch and see a real difference?

Wait have you actually been using the really cheap stuff from Home Depot this whole time? Bro that tape is basically glorified packing tape, I learned that lesson the hard way after a callback where the whole seam popped up in a rental property. The expensive HF tape has way more adhesive and the backing doesn't wrinkle up when you stretch the carpet. I switched about a year ago and my callbacks dropped like crazy, plus I can actually walk away from a job knowing it won't come back to bite me. The price difference stings at first but when you factor in the time and materials for fixing a blown seam it pays for itself quick.

Yeah but now I gotta admit that cheap tape was basically just regret with glue on it.
